Summary:
Situated between Pease and Milligan Lane fronted by
Montauk Highway to the south, sits a single-story,
8,400 sf medical building that focuses on invasive medical
procedures and patient comfort. The intent of this project was
to design a space that could be flexible and
successfully accommodate anywhere between
one to three medical tenants, as well as blend into
the surrounding residential community and
amplify the neighborhood streetscape. Inside the building,
the Endoscopy Suite was designed so that each exam room
would have a minimum 200 sf while being arranged
to permit the required clearances needed for these
precise procedures. Instrument processing rooms,
patient holding/ preparation and patient recovery rooms
were also included into the design to allow for staff
and patients to feel comfortable and easily perform
their jobs/recover after the procedures. The finishes chosen
for the interiors provide ease of maintenance, aesthetics,
safety, sustainability and resistance to chemicals.
On the exterior, materials and systems were
chosen for simplicity, aesthetics, sustainability and cost control.
By using gray Hardie plank composite siding,
white AZEK trim boards and moldings in combination
with precast stone sills and brick veneer at the exposed
foundation and column bases, the building blends
with and enhances the surrounding residential neighborhood.
